Route by car to rent for Son Marroig and Sa Foradada
Visit to Son Marroig - Sa Foradada
In the middle of Serra de Tramuntana, surrounded by olive trees and dramatic cliffs, stands the Son Marroig manor house, which is the former property of Archduke Luis Salvador de Austria and is now converted into La Casa Museo de Son Marroig, a private institution created to preserve, disseminate, and promote the Archduke's legacy.
Works from prominent landscape artists such as Joaquin Mir and Antonio Ribas Oliver adorn the museum's walls. In their showcases, we will find Phoenician, Greek, and Roman items from the Majorcan past and according to legend, it was in the Son Marroig Tower where the last abduction of women at the hands of pirates took place and where an olive oil mill sits today.
Within its gardens, you can enjoy views of the coast from the "Des Galliner" Lookout, and from its cistern and a Carrara marble pavilion you can meditate on Sa Foradada.
Sa Foradada or "Na Foradada" is a peninsula located within the Son Marroig territory and is named after an 18-meter hole formed by erosion. An inspiration of writers and poets, it is a magical enclave where special air is breathed.
