Route by car to rent for Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis
Visit to Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis
Between Morro de sa Vaca and Morro de ses Fel-les and in the shadow of Puig Mayor, the highest peak on the islands, is the Sa Calobra beach, a movie backdrop and an inspiration to many artists.
The road leading to the beach starts near a nineteenth century viaduct and was designed in 1932 by the engineer Antonio Pavetti. No machines were used in its construction and it is unique in its design in that along its route there are no tunnels that burrow through the mountain on their way to the sea.
From the beach and through a pedestrian tunnel that crosses the rocks, you reach the mouth of the "Torrent de Pareis", a canyon that is over three kilometers long where torrential water circulation has created a sharp valley with impressive vertical walls over 200 meters high.
In the summer months, when the stream does not have any water and the pools are empty, you can walk through it and even gain access to Sa Calobra through it from the town of Escorça, although this option requires a certain level of physical fitness and some experience in hiking.
