Route by car to rent for Cieza and Moratalla
Visit Cieza and Moratalla
Located north of Murcia, and capital of the region of Vega del Segura, Cieza hides many archaeological treasures of all periods and a growing cultural heritage.
In the castle's hill and on its side we can find the biggest-known Hispanic-Muslim city, Medina Siyasa, an archaeological site of terraced buildings and streets like labyrinths.
The only thing that remains of the medina is the layout of the streets, the house structures and the sewer system, together with the reconstruction of a typical Al-Andalus house which can be visited, with other archaeological remains, in the Siyasa Museum, located in the heart of the old town of Cieza.
A little bit more to the East we can find Moratalla, which lies in a mountainous area, summit of the Region of Murcia. This big village is a reference in the region's rural tourism.
The city has a wide offer of rural accommodation and a great number of outdoor activities. You can walk round the many spots and natural spaces that Moratalla offers, not only by foot but also on horse, bike or canoe: the Peak Revolcadores, the Caves in Zaén or the dolmen of Bajil.
In the village you can visit the church of Santa María de la Asunción or the Medieval Castle of Benizar and if you happen to be there at the same time enjoy its famous Tamborrada in Easter or its Cristo del Rayo fiestas, also known as "Cow fiestas", which take place from the 11th to the 17th of July.
