The Spanish company Centauro Rent a Car achieved sales of 87 million euros in 2017, which represents a growth of 17% compared to 2016. The car rental company recently filed its accounts with a positive balance: profit before taxes (EBITDA) increased by 32% compared to the previous fiscal year.
In addition, the workforce grew at 23% rate in 2017, driven by the company's national and international expansion plan. Last year, the Spanish brand opened four offices in top-level tourist destinations: Porto (Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport), Madrid (Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport), Malaga (María Zambrano AVE Station) and Sevilla (Santa Justa AVE Station)
Strategic plan for international expansion
In mid-2017, the Spanish investment fund Portobello Capital became a shareholder of Centauro Rent a Car, in order to accelerate its growth and boost its internationalization. With the launch of the company´s strategic international expansion plan - supported by the participation of Portobello Capital -, Centauro Rent a Car made a leap to Italy, at the beginning of this year, opening 4 branches in the country´s main airports: Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino, Milan Bergamo and Milan Malpensa.
"The formidable results of 2017 are an extra motivation for the whole team and encourage us to continue working hard to advance our project. The accounts back our expansion plan, which has two main objectives: to reinforce the company's presence in consolidated destinations and to open the market in new strategic enclaves. As of today we can say that Centauro Rent a Car is the most important Spanish firm in the sector, by turnover and fleet size", explains Erik Devesa, CEO of Centauro Rent a Car.
New openings on the horizon
Centauro Rent a Car expects to keep growing exponentially at double-digit rates the next fiscal year. In addition, the company´s 'roadmap' is to extend its national and international expansion plan to strategic enclaves.
